Our History
The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance, disaster relief, and education in the United States. The organization was founded in 1881 by Clara Barton, a nurse who had served during the American Civil War.
During the war, Barton had organized efforts to provide medical care and supplies to wounded soldiers on both sides of the conflict.
